Grayson's View: JPT Walsall (a)
And a disappointed Simon Grayson puts last night's 0-0 draw down to the fact that they lacked quality in the attacking third of the field.
The boss saw his side struggle upfront but did not admit that it could have been down to his team selection being the reason they failed to find the net.
He was however happy with the effort that his players put in, but now they have to look towards the league once again if they are to get anything from this season.
Grayson told pnefc.net'I think that when you look at what the players have done tonight in terms of their work rate, their effort, they limited them to few opportunities. Obviously as the game wore on it opened up, the last five minutes we left ourselves vulnerable but you couldn't ask the players to do anything more. We've worked hard, we've got into some good opportunities, the 'keeper's made some good saves, we've hit the bar, they've made blocks.
'The disappointing factor for me is that we've probably not had the extra little bit of quality when it really mattered in that 18-yard box and just outside it to overturn the deficit. But we haven't lost the tie tonight, we really lost it in the mad ten minutes at Deepdale two weeks ago.'
