Preston's Championship season continued with a derby draw at Deepdale against Bolton on Saturday.

Another cleansheet, as the unbeaten run was extended, was collected by Preston but as the Lilywhites couldn't force a breakthrough against Bolton this Lancashire derby ended with the points shared in a nil-nil draw.

With the two lowest goalscorers meeting on Halloween night few frights would have been expected and that's exactly how it proved with a tight encounter always likely with few clear chances coming.

Bolton could have been ahead at the break with former Newcastle striker Ameobi, the latest striker veteran to sign for Lennon's side, putting his effort from a Spearing freekick over Pickford's crossbar via hit shoulder!

Garner and Johnson offered the greatest Preston threat, forcing Bolton 'keeper Amos into saves but he wasn't overly stretched with Johnson also having some effort blocked out by the Trotters defence.

Preston might have gone down to 10-men with Woods only being booked when bringing down Clayton as he looked to get clear with Hugill coming off the bench for Preston and electing to shoot as he chased a winner, instead of passing to Johnson who was better placed.

Sunderland 'loanee Pickford, who will again be delighted with his latest cleansheet of course of his spell at Deepdale, was forced into a save from Madine late on as Bolton applied some pressure with the points shared with the visitors climbing off the foot of the table with this points.

A seventh cleansheet shows great defensive strength and even though the unbeaten run now stands at four-matches Preston have won only once in the last 12, which sees PNE just three-points above the bottom three.
