Vital Report - Preston 1-2 Ipswich
Preston North End's Championship season continued with a defeat, a first of the campaign, at Deepdale against league leaders Ipswich on Saturday.
Having fallen behind to a Pitman goal Preston levelled through Johnson but it was McCarthy's unbeaten Ipswich that scored a second half winner through Fraser to run out two-one winners against PNE to keep them on course, early days though they are, for a good season again.

PNE started well and had enough chances to be ahead with Huntington and Garner both having efforts at goal with Humphrey finishing poorly from a Cunningham cross, when he'll know he should have done better.
A first goal conceded this season, in the league, by Preston came at the midway point of the first half when Sears, who has been in the goals himself for Ipswich this season, crossed in for Pickford who headed past Pickford to put the Tractor Boys ahead.
The scores were level at half time though when a counter-attack saw Humphrey set up Johnson and he finished past Ipswich 'keeper Gerken.
Ipswich were ahead once again though at the midway point of the second half when Fraser (65) curled an effort into the top corner from 25-yards.
Garner tried to draw PNE level for a second time, having one effort blocked in a scramble and another saved by Gerken as defeat was suffered for the first time this season....
Did a starter, or someone from the bench, offer the most in this two-one defeat?
