Preston Overcome Norwich To Reach 4th Round
Sat 3rd Jan 2015
Paul Gallagher was on fine form yet again as he netted two goals against Norwich City to put Preston into the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Gallagher struck twice in the last 20 minutes of the game, a game on paper at least, the away side should have got something from.
Indeed, Norwich could have taken the lead when Gary Hooper missed a golden chance on 32 minutes, then Thorsten Stuckmann looked like he was going to get on a one on one situation with Bradley Johnson was put through on goal, but a perfectly timed tackle from Bailey Wright saw off the danger.
Preston went close just after the hour mark but Andy Little could not get his header on target from a David Buchanan cross.
But nine minutes later the miss was forgotten about when the best man on the field, Gallagher slotted the ball under the Norwich keeper John Ruddy after Jack King had given him a knock down.
And with just five minutes left of normal time, North End sealed their passage into the next round when Gallagher beat Ruddy again from ten yards.
