North End 4-2 Colchester Utd
For a while that long unbeaten home record that Preston have been on came under threat but in the end normal service was resumed as we moved back into play-off contention with a win.
Preston had to come from behind, and were pegged back by Colchester having taken the lead, before eventually running out 4-2 winners at Deepdale on Saturday afternoon.
We could have been ahead with Paul Gallagher missing an early chance, which Colchester made us pay for.
Rhys Healey (16) broke the deadlock when he followed up after Jamie Jones had saved to keep out Alex Gilbey's effort.
By the midway point of the half though we had turned the game around to lead.
Scott Wiseman (21) was too strong for Sanchez Watt, beating him and then beating Colchester 'keeper Sam Walker. Alan Browne (25) was then happy to take a chance that came as he fired us ahead.
Colchester were level at two-two by half time though as Gilbey (37) blasted home a 25-yard effort past Jones.
We started the second half quickly with Gallagher (47) making up for his first half miss by beating Walker from distance with the woodwork denying Garner but in a blistering 15-minute second half spell we opened some breathing space with Chris Humphrey (57) adding a fourth.
Gallagher put him in and he made no mistake.
The visitors continued to battle though with Callum Robinson denied by the bar Freddie Sears by another Jones saves as we saw out a four-two win.
