Walsall 3-1 North End
Going into the weekend game Preston would have fancied coming away from a game with something but all we got was defeat and a game we ended with 10-men in.
Walsall won for the first time in league 1 this season when they got the better of Preston at the Bescot on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win.
The home side went into an early lead when Romaine Sawyers (7) got on the end of a cross from Adam Chambers but we responded before half time as Jordan Hugill set-up Joe Garner (36), who doesn't take much asking to score, and he made it one-one at the break.
Walsall were quick out of the traps in the second half as well as Tom Bradshaw (49) headed home Anthony Forde's cross to restore their lead.
Our chances of getting back into the game were dealt a blow when Hugill went from the hero of setting up the goal to zero when he was sent off for an apparent on Andy Butler, after the defender had gone in with a hard challenge on the North End man.
The three-one win was secured when Paul Downing (76) headed home a Forde corner, just after Hugill had been sent off to condemn us to our first league 1 defeat of the season.
