Morecambe 2 Preston 0
The pre-season friendly against Morecambe ended in a 2-0 win for the Shrimps after goals from Jordan Burrow and Danny Carlton.
The first half turned out to be a grueling affair for the Whites as the Shrimps set off to win with some tough tackles and a fiery attitude.
Morecambe forward Kevin Ellison was lucky to still be on the playing field after kicking out at Stuckmann early on, Ellison also pushed the German shot stopper in a incident that would surely have been a red card in a competitive game.
Lee Trundle was the first to come close for PNE after stepping up for a 25 yard free kick after a foul on Nicky Wroe, it was a superb effort but unfortunately the ball went inches over the crossbar.
A poor challenge meant a early exit for Lee Trundle, David Amoo took his place and made his first appearance for North End.
Amoo showed his ability just before the break after picking up the ball on the right, opting cleverly to cut into the left instead of using his pace he unleashed a great shot that was heading towards the top corner but Roche made a great save.
The second half did not start well for the lilywhites. A great cross from Alessandra opened up the PNE defence allowing Jordan Burrow to head the ball into a empty net after just four minutes.
Another player making his first appearance for the club, Chris Robertson, came close in the 76th minute after Byrom whipped the ball into the box, Robertson connected but the shot went wide.
North End kept possession throughout the second half but it was the Shrimps that struck again 4 minutes from time, a low hard cross from Dan Parkinson went flying through the 6 yard box and Danny Carlton was there to smash it into the back of the North End goal.
Scott Laird came close in the last minute but it would have been a mere consolation goal as time ran out for North End.
