Chorley 1 Preston 1
The Jack Kirkland trophy will be shared this year as the game at Victory Park ended as a draw.
A superb goal by trialist Lee Trundle put the Whites in front in the 27th minute. Trundle picked the ball up just inside the Chorley half, charging at the magpies defence he reached the outside of the box and with a nice bit of skill set himself up for a left footed shot that he slotted past Chorley keeper Andy Roberts.
North End was playing good stuff after the goal with some brilliant link up play between Trundle and Holmes creating a opening for Nicky Wroe who took a shot at goal only for it to be tipped over the bar.
Holmes and Mousinho dominated the field in the middle but it was Trundle that was running the show making chance after chance for Cummins. It was good fortune for Chorley that Roberts was on top form as Cummins just couldnt score despite some fine efforts on goal.
Chorley leveled just before half time with a close strike from Kilheeney. The goal came completely against the run of play after a ball in from the right hand side dropped right in the path of Kilheeney who easily put it past trialist goalkeeper Jose Moreira.
Come half time the PNE team had a completely different look about it with only midfielder Nicky Wroe staying in the starting 11.
Wroe started off well in the early stages of the second half with a effort blocked 20 yards out and a shot that went just over the bar. He also put Chris Beardsley through on goal only for the chance to be fired over the bar.
Jack King came close to grabbing the winning goal in the 84th minute but his shot went straight into the arms of the goalkeeper. The last bit of action saw Holroyds 15 yard effort saved and with it came the full whistle.
