Huddersfield Town - match report
A first goal for Chris Robertson and a great display by our very own Danny mayor made sure North End ran out winners against promotion chasing Huddersfield Town.
The game looked fairly tight in the first 30 minutes or so but things soon changed after Thorsten Stuckmann made a brilliant save to deny Huddersfields leading goalscorer Jordon Rhodes a goal.
The game then opened up with North End going up the other end, Hume passed through to Danny Mayor who took it past one defender and got a shot on goal, Bennett made the save and tipped it out for a corner.
Four minutes later North End came close once again after some neat passing by Paul Coutts and David Gray opened up the Huddersfield defence, Gray passed to Hume who set up Holroyd who then volleyed towards goal but it hit the woodwork, the rebound came to Danny Mayor who took a shot but it hit the crowd of players and went out for another corner.
The second half set off how the first half ended, fast and PNE on top. The goal for North End came ten minutes into the second half after Danny mayor went on a great run and passed across to Robertson who hammered it home from six yards out for his first goal for North End.
PNE continued to run the game and Huddersfield could not handle Mayor as he and Coutts terrorised the defence over and over again with some slick football, the PNE defence never looked like conceding and was solid throughout.
A great performance by the lilywhites and all credit to the players as it was obvious they was up for the fight against a very good Huddersfield side. Westley looks like he has finally got everything under control and things are starting to look up.
Completely owned the field today, the young Prestonian just keeps on getting better and better, a must keep player for next season.
