Hugill's Written Transfer Request Rejected

Hugill's Written Transfer Request Rejected

Interest has been shown in Jordan Hugill from Ipswich, last season, and Birmingham during the summer.

Clearly his head's been turned as a written transfer request has been handed in.

However, Preston have no interest in selling and the former Port Vale forward, arriving in June 2014 on an initial two year deal, has been informed North End aren't prepared to let him leave Deepdale this month.

A statement on the Official Website read: 'Preston North End can confirm that Jordan Hugill has today handed in a written transfer request. The club have rejected this request and will not be selling him in this transfer window.'

Hugill, 25, has made six appearances under Alex Neil this season and scored three goals.

Neil's been keen to keep the squad assembled by his predecessor Simon Grayson intact, adding to it in fact, and made his stance clear following the weekend draw at Middlesbrough.

He told BBC Radio Lancashire: 'We are not in the market to sell our best players. I am not going to break this team up - we want to have a right go this season and see where it takes us.'

A statement of intent has been made but I think all will know if an offer that's too good to refuse is made then Hugill will leave, especially if the forward has made it clear he's looking to move on, as he has with this transfer request.

Sometimes, even often it's wise to let a player move on when they show such disregard for their club.Hugill's head is not in the right place,he probably thought he would be part of Harry Redknapp's revolution at Birmingham City who were desperate for a striker. They wanted Hugill however the move never materialised and now he wants away. He's going to have to put in some serious graft now for he's going nowhere at least until January. It's catch 22 situation,Preston must play him if they want to get decent money for him,it's unlikely a Premiership club will come in for him however in January IF he starts to score there will be other clubs interested,I doubt Birmingham will resume interest as they now have plenty of strikers.Go out and prove your worth and score for the club who are paying your wages.
