Preston's Play-Off Belief
The play-offs are a long way off but Daniel Johnson is already feeling confident Preston can push on from recent seasons and mount a sustained top-six push this term.
Preston, following a draw at Middlesbrough on Saturday, in a game both Johnson and Alex Neil thought North End deserved to win, head into the international break having lost just once.
He told the Official Website: 'We looked at the stats at the end of the game and you can see that the performance was really good today and even though we got a point we felt we deserved three. Having come close last year, we have that belief that we can get into the play-offs and we've started really well and we just need to keep that going.'
Adding: 'We've been working really hard on the training field to keep clean sheets. Four clean sheets in five games so you can tell that we've been working really hard. We've just got to keep that belief in the team; we're a good team, we've got a great bunch of lads and we've just got to keep that belief in the team and see where it takes us.'
Looking back to the game at the Riverside Stadium, Johnson went on to talk about knowing Preston have faced some potent attacking forces; Boro alone could claim Championship proven Britt Assombalonga and Rudy Gestede as their forward.
However, the forward, who has now been at Deepdale for almost three years, knows with several of the 'so called big teams' having been faced North End can enjoy the break and come back ready to go again against Barnsley.
Johnson said: 'We've played the so called big teams and we've done really well so we're going to enjoy our little break now, recover and get ready to go again against Barnsley at home.'
