Mavididi Arrives From Arsenal
Ahead of the Championship opener against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, of course won, Preston secured the signing of Arsenal's Stephy Mavididi.
The forward was signed on a season-long loan deal from the Premier League side.
Mavididi, 19, is yet to make his first team debut for Arsenal but did gain a little experience during a loan at League One side Charlton last season, making five appearances for the Addicks.
He wasn't available for Sheffield Wednesday but the England U19 international could make his Preston debut against Accrington Stanley in the League Cup this week.
Alex Neil is confident Mavididi will become a 'real top player' in the future so was delighted to bring in the teenager who can offer North End something in various attacking areas.
'I think he`ll bring pace and a directness from either a wider area or a central nine. He`s one of the players that can fluctuate between any of the top four - he can play on either flank, he`s played as a ten he`s played as a nine,' Neil told the Official Website. 'He`s got real pace and power and I think he`ll be a real top player at some stage. We want to try and help the development of that for our benefit and for his. I think it`ll make some good business.'
Adding: 'I think he`s a perfect fit for us certainly in terms of attributes that we like to have in the team and he`ll give us that.'
Meanwhile, Mavididi said he was 'buzzing' having signed an can't wait to be involved.
He added: 'I`m delighted to get it over the line, I`m happy to sign and now I`m ready to kick on for the new season. I just want to put on that shirt and run out do well. I`m buzzing, I can`t wait to get started now.'
