Neil Reels In Fish-er
On Wednesday, Alex Neil made Darnell Fisher his first Preston signing.
The Rotherham full back, who started his career at Celtic making 21 first team appearances, has signed a three year deal at Deepdale.
Fisher's fee remains undisclosed.
Neil believes Fisher, 23, will fit in perfectly at Preston telling the Official Website he would be a 'great bit of business' for North End.
'He's perfect in the fact that he wants to try and find his way in his career. He is a determined lad; he has come through Celtic's ranks, so he's used to high standards and winning games and expecting to be challenging at the top end of the table. He has had that experience there, which I think will certainly help him. I think we needed a few more bodies in defensive areas and I think Darnell will fit in perfectly for us. I think it's a great bit of business.'
Callum Davidson, a member of Neil's first team coaching set up, worked with Fisher during a loan at St Johnstone, where the former Preston defender had been coaching at the time, so he knows him pretty well.
Fisher, who will now remain in the Championship following Rotherham's relegation last season, was happy to see the deal progress quickly and said he didn't need any convincing to link up with Neil as he soon 'sold' Preston.
'I spoke to the manager and he really sold me on the club. Everything he said to me about the club was positive and he`s going to add to it, hopefully we can do well. He has said he`s going to make me a better player and hopefully I can be a better player under his guidance. It was all very quick, I got the call yesterday and we have managed to get it done by today.'
