McAvoy Added To Neil's Backroom Staff
Frankie McAvoy has been added to the Preston backroom staff.
Having worked with Alex Neil as Scottish club Hamilton and then Norwich most recently the decision of the new North End boss to bring McAvoy, 50, to Deepdale isn't surprising - it would have been had he not.
During this previous the Scottish duo have managed to achieve promotion from the Scottish Championship and Championship into the Premiership and Premier League so would be targeting a third success with the Lilywhites.
McAvoy told the Official Website he didn't have anything to think about when offered the chance to work alongside Neil again.
'We have been together for a long time; ten years at Hamilton - where he was first a player and then he took the manager`s job - and we had some great times at a fantastic club. Then both of us went to Norwich and we had some really good times there.'
Adding: 'When I got the opportunity to come here it was a no brainer for me - I thought 'I have to go`. Alex`s knowledge of the game is excellent for one so young and we have done well at the clubs we have been at and hopefully that can continue.'
Neil knows what McAvoy can offer and feels confident he'll settle into the backroom staff easily.
He said: 'I am really pleased Frank is here. We have had some really successful times and we have had two promotions. Frank knows how I work and we have got a great relationship, so he is a good addition to the backroom team and hopefully we can all work together.'
