Aberdeen-Linked May In Neil's Plans
Aberdeen, who already conceded any potential deal for Preston's Stevie May would be conducted at North End's pace, might have to concede defeat?
Having been a previous teammate of May's at Hamilton - before then becoming his boss - Alex Neil has suggested that will work in the Scotland internationals favour and should bring him plenty of chance to impress during pre-season.
When at Hamilton an 11 goal run in six games showed what May can do with Neil looking to build up his confidence, which if he can he knows the forward has plenty to offer.
Neil told the Lancashire Evening Post: 'Stevie was a team-mate of mine at Hamilton, he came on loan. When the manager left, a guy called Billy Reid, I took over from him. Stevie then went on a run of scoring 11 goals in six games for me - if he can replicate that or anything near it, we will be doing alright. He`s had a tough time has Stevie, what we have got to do is rebuild his confidence. There is no question that he is a talented lad and I think he has a lot to offer.'
May's battled back from a career threatening knee injury and was already expected to be given pre-season to prove his fitness by former boss Simon Grayson - this looks a near certainty under Neil.
A first opportunity could come at Bamber Bridge on Friday for the traditional trip to the Sir Tom Finney Stadium.
