Hugill - A Season To Remember

Preston couldn't sustain a play-off push in the end but it's still been a good season, especially for Jordan Hugill.
Hugill, Preston's top goalscorer with 13, beat off strong competition to see the first of his brace at Aston Villa win the Goal of the Season award, confirmed in Sunday's community day at Deepdale.
The striker has told the Official Website to overcome the competition he did must mean the goal at Villa Park was special, capping what's been an impressive season for Hugill.
He said: 'There were some brilliant efforts, I mean Geads [Aiden McGeady] had about four in there himself so it's good to beat someone of his standard! For me it just rounds off the season that I have had, I've had a great season goalscoring wise and I think this is just a nice little accolade to help remind me of what a season I have had.'
The Goal of the Season winner was the first of Hugill's double against Aston Villa as Preston came from two down to earn a draw back in January.
Looking back at the goal he added: 'I can just remember picking the ball up off DJ [Daniel Johnson] on the half-way line and everything just seemed to open up so I just kept running and then got towards the edge of the box and saw I could get a shot off so I had a go and it went into the top corner. It was a brilliant start to the comeback in that game.'
His confidence was high at the time so Hugill fancied himself to score and that is why he went it alone, even if the commentators thought on-loan Everton winger Aiden McGeady, confirmed as the Preston Player of the Year, should have been put in.
Hugill finished: 'I've listened to the commentary and he's gagging for me to pass it to Geads but everything just seemed to open up and I had the shot and it went in. I was flying with confidence at the time, though I hadn't scored in a while but I had been playing well and the goal was the icing on top of the cake.'
