Grayson - We Dominated From Start To Finish
Victory against Birmingham has kept Preston in with a shout of making it into the end of season play-offs with the gap remaining at seven points.
Simon Grayson has praised the Preston performance from this 2-1 win at Deepdale in a game that he said North End dominated from start to finish. The only thing missing from the first half were a couple of goals to warrant the opening 45 minutes.
Commenting in his post-match news conference the boss was quoted by the BBC as saying.
'We dominated from start to finish, created some real good chances and there was some outstanding individual performances. We just needed a couple more goals to warrant that first-half performance.'
Callum Robinson had headed Preston into the lead with Birmingham's Che Adams pegging North End back only for Jordan Hugill to win it. The Blues then finished with 10 men when Craig Gardner was sent off soon after.
Not adding those goals Grayson wanted - and thought we deserved - left us open but he was happy with the way Preston responded to the Birmingham equaliser and how we dug in to secure the points.
'You always know if you don't take those chances, the opposition are going to have some spell in the game. We've shown a lot of character to stay in a game in the second half; we dug in and took our chances when they came along.'
With Daryl Horgan - who assisted the winner - and Aiden McGeady again impressive for Preston the paid have a very good chance of not only being named in the next Republic of Ireland squad but potential being starters for Martin O'Neill too.
The Irish forwards performances were highlighted by the Irish Mirror.
