'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Brownhill Goes Pro

The 18 year old has today finally put his signature on a dotted line on a two-year-contract for the Lilywhites, having made 17 appearances for them already this season.

Brownhill was released from Manchester United at the age of 18 and has made his way into becoming a real star for North End.

He made his debut back in Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie where he came off the bench, and then did the same but in the league against Crewe.

So far, Brownhill has netted twice for Preston which were both special goals.

His first goal was on his first league start for the Lilywhites when they travelled to Preistfield to face Gillingham, and he was the one who earned Preston a win after he scored the winner.

Brownhill's second goal was on boxing day away to Carlisle United, which involved 13 PNE players getting a touch on the ball before Josh finished it off for North End.

That goal is now a nomination for the Mitre Goal of the Year 2013.

"I`m delighted to be able to sign. My dream has always been to become a professional footballer and Preston North End have given me that opportunity, for which I`m really grateful,' Brownhill told the PNE Website about his new deal.

He then added, 'I was upset when I was released by Manchester United, but as soon as I was given the opportunity here I knew what a good club this was and I am glad I have been able to get this chance to prove what I am capable of."

PNE boss Simon Grayson was just as delighted as Brownhill was: 'It is brilliant for Josh. He has worked extremely hard to get to where he is now and for us as a football club, for a young player to commit his future for as long as he has, speaks volumes about what he wants to achieve and where we are going as a football club.'

Grayson then added, "There has been a lot of speculation about teams watching him, and rightly so, because he is a good young English player with huge potential.

Brownhill was linked with a move back to Old Trafford after his impressing start in the Preston first team with only months of being involved.
