'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Garner Gets Kilkenny Suspension

There was good and bad news for us on Thursday. No, not on the transfer front as the loan window closed without any further activity.

The good news was that Neil Kilkenny's red card was overturned, however Joe Garner will now serve the three-match suspension instead!

In fairness Kilkenny's sending off was a case of mistaken identity with Garner (who of course went on to score two goals to secure our win over Port Vale on Tuesday) the one that should have gone....

Simon Grayson was disappointed with the decision to retrospectively suspend Garner, as he felt we had supplied enough evidence to exonerate both.

The part that Anthony Griffith played to help with the overturning of this, who was the Port Vale player involved, was praised though.

Grayson said: 'We are hugely disappointed. We felt we had supplied sufficient evidence to think the decision would be overturned.

'I would like to thank Port Vale's Anthony Griffith for his co-operation in this matter. He has acted in a thoroughly professional manner.

'It's a shame the Football Association's panel were not willing to trust his word and come to a decision to clear Joe.'

Garner will definitely be missed as he's scored seven goals in his last five outings....
