'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Good From Start To Finish

You wouldn't think that many sides will beat Leyton Orient this season? Preston became part of a select band that will be able to claim this when we beat them 1-0 on Saturday.

All week you work hard on the training ground in preparation for a game, sometimes this can go out of the window in minutes but that wasn't the case for us at the Matchroom Stadium and Simon Grayson couldn't have been happier.

The pre-game preparations certainly went according to plan, Grayson said: 'They did everything that I asked them to do from first thing on Monday morning until 5 o'clock, they had to put bodies on the line and they had to work for each other.

'That was the thing that we made very clear to the players when we started our preparations for this game.

'When you look at the overall play, we were very good from start to finish. In the first half, I thought we were very disciplined and controlled the game, passed the ball around well and Orient rarely threatened us in that period.

'When we had to battle and scrap and make last-ditch challenges, we did that. Orient work you extremely hard, they close you down and stop you playing and we had to be better than them at doing that.

'Every one of our players worked so hard for the team and contributed in a fantastic way.'

Going into the game Orient were top of the league one table, and you know I said few clubs will beat them?

Perhaps others will go on to do this but we were only the second one to do it at this stage so we should take something from this.

The match winner Joe Garner definitely will, his goalscoring troubles from earlier in his Lilywhites career seem a distant memory with his wonderful volley to give us the points his fourth goal in his last three games for us....
