'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Keep Pushing Each Other On

As a footballer all you want to be doing is play first team football.

Well, that should be what you want anyone! A few might be happy collecting a pay packet than playing but they are few and far between...

Iain Hume is one of those that wants to be playing week in week out, however he can see why it has been difficult for him at Preston this season.

Until the summer not many would have expected to see Hume in Preston colours anyway, but removed from the transfer list Simon Grayson welcomed him back into the fold after his loan with Doncaster last season.

Last weekend he came off the bench to strike our winner against Notts County, and he hopes that will be enough to get him back into the starting XI as it's frustrating not being a starter.

He told BBC Radio Lancashire: 'I'm always frustrated not to start. Everybody on our bench will say the same.

'We've got a bench full of first-team players and they're all dying to start. Hopefully I've put myself in the reckoning for next week.'

Most importantly the striker has voiced his opinion that he believes the competition for places is good for the club and hopes that this competition can keep pushing all to give that something extra.

At the moment Kevin Davies and Stuart Beavon are Grayson's first choice pairing but Hume and Joe Garner are banging on the door for starting places of their own and the longer all keep pushing each other the better it is for us, in theory anyway!
