'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Winger Commits Until 2015

As expected Will Hayhurst has penned a new contract with Preston.

The club had already taken up the one-year option they had with the teenager, however they soon revealed that they also wanted to tie him down to an extended deal. They now have with him signing a new two-year contract to take him through until the summer of 2015.

Simon Grayson, talking to the official website, said: 'Will was only in his first full season last year and I'm delighted with the new contract that he's signed and hopefully he will improve.

'One or two other clubs might have been sniffing around and we wanted him tied down. He'll now be looking to improve on the performances that he put in for the club last year.'

The 19-year-old always intended to sign a new deal and was doing so after youth duty with Ireland, he added: 'I'm very happy. I wanted it sorted before I went away with Ireland (to Serbia).

'I was itching to get back. Every day I was thinking about signing and starting the season with Preston, so after getting it done I'm very much looking forward to the new season.'

Hayhurst's impressive performance on the wing for The Lilywhites last season brought some admiring glances for others clubs, however if they are still in the market for him they'll now have to pay a competitive price!
