Scholars Offered Pro Deals

Scholars Offered Pro Deals

The futures of this seasons scholars has been decided by Simon Grayson, with a trio offered professional contracts with Preston.

Defender Ben Davies, midfielder Ryan Croasdale and goalkeeper Steven James have been offered one-year contracts, with the option of a further to follow.

This trio might have been kept but another batch have been told they have no future at the club, so Josh Amis, Brandon Zibaka, Jack Sowerby, Alan Scurry, David Kuba-Kuba, Matt Greenwood, Daniel Forbes and Adam Thurston have all been released.

Had Preston been able to run a development squad the chances are more would have been retained. As they're not they couldn't.

Simon Grayson, as he told the official website, said: 'At this moment in time, the football club isn't in a position to have a development squad, however, if we had been in the Championship four or five of these players would probably have been given contracts to try and continue their development.

'The Scholars we give contracts to have to affect the first team in the next six to 12 months and feel the ones offered contracts have the best opportunity to do that, although the others can consider themselves very unlucky and we offer them all the very best in the future.'
