Preston Pile The Pressure On Oldham

Preston 2-0 Oldham
9th April 2013
19:45
Deepdale

Preston secured a Deepdale win over relegation threatened Oldham on Tuesday night to leave the visitors in deep relegation trouble.

Oldham pressed hard for the opener, and it was the visiting side that did look more likely to break the deadlock in a tight first half.

Shortly after the break Preston then went closest of all to breaking through but Jack King's header came back off the bar.

As time ticked away The Lilywhites had the chance to break through when a penalty was awarded for a handball against Jonathan Grounds. Nicky Wroe (73) stepped up and slotted home.

Oldham pushed for an equaliser and with goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis going up for a corner Preston broke away with Will Hayhurst (90+3) finishing into an empty net deep into injury-time to wrap up a 2-0 win that has left The Latics just outside the relegation zone on goal-difference alone, however they do have a game in hand on most others.
