Positive Foundations In Place

Simon Grayson believes that "the foundations are in place" for Preston to enjoy a successful future, starting next season.

Grayson has overseen just one defeat thus far in his six games since taking charge and is happy with how things are going.

He, as he told BBC Radio Lancashire, knows things still need to improve but the signs are good for a more encouraging future: 'I still know there's work to do to make us a force this time next year.

'The endeavour and the application is there. We just want to bring it all together to give us a foundation for a successful season next year.'

Reflecting on his games so far Grayson added: 'When you look back at the games so far and the (three) goals we've conceded, one was a 94th-minute penalty and the other two were mistakes by players not clearing their lines properly.

'We've not been undone by some good play, or the function and organisation of the team been ripped to pieces, so there's a lot to work from.'

Grayson has a good record of gaining promotion from League One to the Championship, having managed this with Blackpool, Leeds and Huddersfield previously so you'd not bet against it again.

The new Lilywhites boss is getting the best out of the players that he has at present and with a few tweaks this summer I believe that Grayson is right that the foundations are in place for a more successful season next term.
