'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Striker released by Preston

Chris Holroyd has parted company with Preston.

A statement, on the official website, read: 'Preston North End would like to thank Chris for his efforts during his time at Deepdale and wish him all the best for his future career.'

26-year-old Holroyd arrived at Deepdale a year ago but has spent time on loan with Non-League side Macclesfield this season and hadn't been in Graham Westley's long-term thinking plans.

The striker was heavily involved for The Lilywhites during the second half of last season but hadn't (and would have) featured this season so it's probably the best move for all concerned that he becomes a free agent.
