Preston came away from Fratton Park with a point against struggling Portsmouth on Saturday afternoon.
Having been fouled Izale McLeod stepped up himself to take the resulting penalty but the Pompey striker blasted against the crossbar to miss his second penalty from three attempts.
The hosts had the better of the first half chances but had it not been for a fine Simon Eastwood save Preston would have gone into the break a goal to the good.
Thorsten Stuckmann was forced into another save in the second half to ensure Preston went away with a 0-0 draw.
