Alexander leaves Preston for Fleetwood
Legendary former Preston defender (legendary isn't too much is it?) Graham Alexander has left The Lilywhites to take his first steps into permanent management.
Former Scottish international Alexander, who finally called time on his long playing career at the end of last season, has left his role with Preston as head of youth development to take up the managerial post with league two outfit Fleetwood.
Despite an impressive three-year spell in charge of Fleetwood they parted company with manager Micky Mellon following their FA Cup exit last weekend with Alexander swiftly appointed.
41-year-old Alexander took charge of five Preston games last season, alongside David Unsworth, but didn't get the job with Graham Westley taking charge in the end.
Alexander will be missed by all at Deepdale, but will be wished all the best with The Cod Army with it likely he'll one day make a return to Preston you would have thought?
