Place in round three secured by Preston

Preston 2-0 Gillingham
FA Cup 2nd Round
1st December 2012
15:00
Deepdale

Preston's place in round three of the FA Cup was secured on Saturday afternoon with a win over league two highflyers Gillingham at Deepdale.

An early strike from Jeffrey Monakana (12) sent Preston on their way into the next round before, having missed a previous chance, Stuart Beavon (38) made it two before the break.

Immediately after the restart a handball gave Gillingham the chance to get back into the game but Deon Burton struck the post with his spot-kick, with a post then denying Beavon another but 2-0 was enough for The Lilywhites to take their place in round two.
